It was an amazing night and we were all thrilled with the turnout! We were thrilled to hear that we were the best selling film of the festival. The cinema was nearly a packed house, filled with faces both recognizable and new.
Just before the screening Mick Hannigan, organiser of the IndieCork Film Festival introduced the film to the audience and then allowed director Tom Ryan, Producer Claire Gormley and lead actor Aoife Spratt to take to the stage and say a few words.
As soon as the lights lowered and the movie began to play there was a contagious buzz of excitement that could be felt throughout the cinema. The audience was either laughing or emotional depending on Angie’s situations.
Following the screening we received fantastic word of mouth. One person in particular posted an incredibly kind review up on facebook.
“Had the privilege of attending the premiere of Tom Ryan’s highly impressive debut feature film ‘Trampoline’ at the Gate cinema tonight. A family drama of redemption and reconciliation that, thankfully, isn’t too heavy handed with it’s themes, but instead relies on subtle, natural, often funny writing, suitably non-stylistic camera work and, astoundingly, brilliant performances from the entire cast. I should’ve brought my note-pad and taken down a list of names to keep in mind for future shorts. Oh well . With it’s low budget look and minimalist story, Trampoline may not be to everyone’s taste, but it just goes to show, you don’t need a Hollywood sized wallet to make a good film, just great actors, a dedicated crew and the creative vision of a brilliant director at the helm. Awesome work everyone “
We should have some official reviews from critics up online soon for everybody to read. We can’t thank those who came enough for letting Angie into their lives for 74 minutes. We are so glad that everyone enjoyed the movie and we can’t wait to show it off at a few more festivals over the coming weeks!
